Culture and history info

Like all other hill stations of Maharashtra, even this was discovered by a British. Hugh Poyntz Malet chanced upon this place, which was later developed and established by the former governor, Lord Elphinstone into a well-equipped vacation place for the other officers. British past still stands erect in the form architectures and buildings built by them. Marathi is the language of the masses, and all the festivals are celebrated with pomp and gaiety.
